STUDENTS CAN NOW CHECK THEIR COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS ANYTIME AT:
https://servicehours.lshsstem.com
STEM Students are required to complete a total of 128 hours of community service before May of their senior year. While there are some specific rules about what counts and what does not, the guiding principle should be that the activity in which you are engaged benefits the community at large in some meaningful way and fulfills a genuine need. Students may not receive payment or compensation in any form for services performed, and no more than 8 hours per day may be counted toward meeting the STEM service requirement.
Any questions concerning the appropriateness of service activities should be directed to Ms. Millinor. Issues regarding special circumstances should be dealt with before the service is performed.
A note about SignUpGenius - Once you sign up for an event, you have committed to working that day/time.
- If you know ahead of time (more than 48 hours prior to the event) that you will not be able to work an event for which you have signed up, please use the delete feature on SignUpGenius to remove yourself from the list.
- If you find out within 48 hours of the event that you will not be able to attend, you should notify Ms. Millinor and find someone to replace you.
- In the event of an emergency (the day of the event), you should make every effort to find someone to replace you and to contact the adult supervisor at the event to report your absence.
